In 2022 I made a card deck for parents and their children. I have not printed it for retail yet but plan to do so, and if you'd like to order a deck please let me know and I'll keep you in the loop.
Parenting is hard, and is full of doubts, questions, and scrutiny (internal and external). When trying to address challenges, parents generally have so many (often conflicting) resources and points of reference, from society, from others around them, from their own intuition, that it gets very confusing, and people may worry there's no way to do anything right.
But at the core, a couple of the main elements of parenting well are (1) providing love to your child and (2) spending time with your child. These two things can look different for different people and at different stages of life, but when we can dedicate time to being with our young ones, in a way that cultivates and involves joy and respect, the benefits are immense, from forming a sense of safety to developing pro-social skills. A strong attachment can help create a strong child. Within a safe attachment, children are free to learn, be creative, make mistakes, and grow. Our lives are fast-paced, and making time for our kids is a way to slow down and resist the urge to keep moving. Sharing intentional time with our kiddos is so valuable.
I created this deck of 28 cards with creative activities for child-rearers and their children, for bonding in a playful, creative, and off-screen way. The cards can help provide a space for curiosity, self-exploration, and empathy-building. On one side of each card is an activity, with the approximate amount of time it'll take, and on the other side is a water color painting, which can be used in different ways, together with or separate from the activities.
